Noticed foreign sprouts in my beds

 

Foreign Sprouts

  • They were in all my beds except the bok choy bed
  • They tended to grow where the straw was thickest

Identification

  • Upon pulling them I noticed the seed and suspected they were from the straw
  • Did some research which confirmed this.
  • The straw I got was not seed free and these sprouts are either barley, oats, wheat or rye.
  • Pulled them out and threw them in my compost but you can also leave it on top of the soil to decompose.
  • As long as I stay on top of pulling them before they seed all should be well.
