- Soil Turning -
Whats soil turning?
Turning the soil after you have completed harvesting one seasons crop and are preparing the bed/container for the planting of a new crop
What to do?
Digging up the soil underneath and mixing it around with the top soil
Add amendments as needed depending on your needs and soil conditions

Bok Choi Bed

- Pretty good production out of this bed considering I barely had sun
- Previous roots were left in

- Transplanted the plants for seeds into pots

- Raked up the straw mulch by hand

- Dug shit up with a pointy shovel

- Dug up sides with tiny shovel

- Mixed further by hand

- Added amendments(vermiculite and azomite)

- Mixed that shit up with transfer shovel

- Lookin fresh as fuck, ready to plant, will top with worm castings when I do
- Following with cucumber
Chinese Cabbage Bed

- Pretty good production out of this bed considering I barely had sun
- Previous roots were left in

- Moved a couple stunted cauliflowers out the way

- Raked up the straw mulch by hand

- Dug shit up with a pointy shovel

- Mixed up further by hand

- Amendments: azomite, vermiculite and worm castings
- Going with extra worm castings on this one as I want the soil to be extra rich for corn planting

- Beds ready to fuck
- 2/24/22 -
Green Onion Planter

- No production out of this
- I think the soil was too compacted and also didn’t have enough drainage as I only drilled holes on the sides
- Lack of sunlight as well

- Raked it up

- Added amendments(vermiculite, perlite and azomite)

- Mixed it all up with a hand rake

- Planter is ready to plant, following with ?, but will top with worm castings when I plant
Kohlrabi Planter

- Dug up the roots and shook off as much soil as possible
- Tossed them in the compost

- Started with a mini shovel moving soil from the sides to the center

- Used a hand rake to dig deeper and further turn and mix the soil

- Added amendments(vermiculite, perlite and azomite)

- Mixed it up, planter is ready to plant, following with green onion, but will top with worm castings when I plant

Daikon Container

- Cleaned up dead leaves and through in compost

- Shoveled soil from sides to center

- Mixed up

- Added amendments(vermiculite, perlite and azomite)

- Mix it up

- Ready to plant gonna follow with carrots and top with worm castings when I plant
