Tools/Supplies Needed

  • Floor Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Ramps
  • 15mm socket (oil drain plug)
  • Socket extension
  • 24mm or 15/16″ socket (oil filter)
  • Ratchet
  • 6 quarts of engine oil: Mobil 1 5w30 Full Synthetic
  • Oil Filter: AC Delco PF2257g
  • Rags

Step 1

  • Drive front of vehicle up on ramps
  • Chock rear tires

Step 2

  • Get under the vehicle preferably with a creeper
  • Locate drain bolt
  • Place a catch pan near the drain bolt
  • Oil shoots out far so place pan accordingly(up against tire is a good place)

Step 3

  • Remove drain bolt with 15mm socketĀ 
  • Let drain for 10minutes (pulling oil cap off can speed this up)
  • Clean drain bolt
  • Retighten drain bolt to a snug fit (factory rec is 18ft-lbs)

Step 4

  • Locate oil filter to the right of the engine and down a bit
  • Remove engine oil filter with a socket extension and 24mm socketĀ 

Step 5

  • Remove old filter from the cap by pulling and unclipping it
  • Remove old 0-ring from cap with a flathead screwdriver
  • Prelube and install new o-ring (comes with filter)
  • Clip in new oil filter to cap

Step 6

  • Before reinstalling filter make sure that adapter stalk is in the correct position in the middle of the oil filter housing
  • This stalk keeps the oil filter from collapsing

Step 7

  • Reinstall oil filter by sliding the filter over the stalk
  • Hand tighten filter then finish off with ratchet to 18ft-lbs
  • Filter cap should fit flush with housing

Step 8

  • Locate oil cap
  • Place funnel in hole
  • Fill with 6 quarts of oil
  • Check oil level with dipstick (make sure its within hash marks)
  • Reset oil life reader
