Spring Soil Amendments

So with the advent of Spring I decided to just follow the same basic process I used in Fall for amending my soil.

I purchased:
3 bags of worm gold plus
1 bag of perlite
1 44lbs bag of rock dust azomite
5 8qt bags of vermiculite

I mixed the amendments in already potted soil. Potted in 10 gallon and 20 gallon grow bags.
With the rock dust, I used a cup and put 2 scoops in the 20 gallon bags and one in the 10 gallon bags.

With the perlite and vermiculite I just eyeballed pouring it into each growbag til it looked like a good amount. Totally arbitrary but I’d say I poured about what looked to be about 3-5% of each to the ratio of the whole soil.
The worm castings I will wait until I plant and top the first couple inches of soil with it, mixing it gently by hand. Then planting my seeds.

I used a small shovel to do the mixing in each bag.
First Id just move the amendments back and forth to get an initial mix. Then Id twist the shovel all around following a circular pattern. Then move the soil/amendment from the edges of the grow bags making a pile in the center. The amendments start to pool up on the sides so this helps disperse them. Then I’d go back and forth once again. Twist once again. Repeating until it looked mixed.
Water it in and Im done.

I’ll wait at least a day before I plant to let things settle in a bit.
