  • Head was abouy 6-7″ so it was time to harvest
  • Boiled em up in water and garlic
  • No flavor and decided these are not worth the garden space or time for the amount of production

  • Pulled up the ones with the largest leaves to see where their at
  • lmao, kinda dissappointed, but glad theres something there.

Beets Final

  • Bolting started so I pulled them up
  • Roots were super small, but I got pretty good producton from the leaves
  • Made a smoothie with the roots and had enough leaves to last about 3 meals worth

Cauliflower Leaves

  • No heads formed on these and aphids were starting to get to them
  • Decided to harvest some leaves
  • They taste just like collards

  • Pulled a bolted one and cut some of the biggest leaves

Chard Final

  • More plants were starting to bolt so I decided to harvest them all
  • Cut at the root at soil level with a box cutter
  • Got about 2-3 pounds worth

Kale Final

  • Further inspected the rest of my Kale plants and there were tiny aphids on most leaves I looked at
  • I was grossed the fuck out and said fuck it and harvested all the rest
  • When I checked on the other leaves I harvested and soaked overnight, that many aphids were still alive and all the leaves, I decided to toss all of it in the compost rather than go through the trouble of getting them off
  • Super bummed out, but learned that aphids are a fucking bitch

Cosmic Purple Carrot

  • Saw the heads poking out of the soil so I thought Id pick them out and see their size
  • Also, picked another with the largest leaves, it was slightly bigger
  • Not as productive as I wouldve liked, but not bad for lack of sun

Kale

  • Thank God, I noticed these aphids before I made a smoothie
  • They were pretty bad on a few plants so I decided to totally harvest them out.
  • Got a bucket of soapy water to knock off as many aphids into as I could while I cut the leaves from the stems, as the stems contained alotta aphids
  • Soaked the leaves to drown the rest of the aphids

  • Cut off all leaves of a bolted plant with a pruner 
  • Cut the biggest leaves off other plants
  • Made a smoothie
    • 3 cups water
    • 2 cups kale 
    • 2 tbsp chia seeds
    • 2 cups frozen fruit blend

  • Made a salad with croutons, tomatoes, cucumber, jack cheese, and bacon ranch dressing

  • Sautéed with olive oil and garlic

  • Cut off outer leaves/biggest leaves with a pruner
  • Made a pineapple chia seed smoothie

Yod Fah

  • Sliced off at stem with a box cutter approximately 8″ from the top of the flower
  • Stir fried with mushrooms, garlic and olive oil

  • Bolting, so it was time to completely harvest
  • Cut with box cutter at stem above previously cut leaves
  • Went back and cut stem at soil level and discarded remains into compost

First & Final Chinese Cabbage

  • Bolting, so it was time to completely harvest
  • Cut with box cutter at base above the leaves flat with the soil
  • Cut the good remaining flat leaves
  • Went back and cut stem at soil level and discarded remains into compost

  • A 2.5″ and 3″ stem
  • Cut at the base of stem with pruning scissors – do not recommend, use a sharp knife instead

  • Tiny roots, but great leaves
  • Lack of sun most the season
